Theodore Roosevelt implemented the same reformative principles before FDR in the early 1900’s  “The Square Deal”

Dwight Eisenhower implemented democratic socialism as well to thwart the dangers of unbridled capitalism.  Both of these former Presidents were Republican, except where Theodore Roosevelt ran on a third party ticket.
